Hyderabad, Aug. 4: With Telangana's Total Fertility Rate declining to 1.5 children per woman, experts have called for greater transparency and ethical practices in fertility care while urging patients to understand their rights under the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Act, 2021 before undergoing IVF treatment.
The appeal was made during a panel discussion organised by Nova IVF Fertility in Hyderabad on Tuesday, bringing together experts from healthcare, law enforcement, medico-legal and media sectors.
P. Murali Krishna, ACP, Panjagutta Division, urged fertility centres to prominently display information about the ART Act and create awareness about patients' legal rights. Shobhit Agarwal, CEO, Nova IVF Fertility, said informed patients are better equipped to make treatment decisions and that ethical, transparent care is essential for building public trust.
The experts also highlighted that infertility affects nearly one in six couples and stressed the importance of choosing ART Act-compliant fertility clinics, understanding treatment costs, giving informed consent and seeking proper counselling before starting fertility treatment.
