Vascular diseases affect blood vessels that carry blood throughout the body and often remain undetected until they become severe. Doctors say symptoms such as leg pain while walking, persistent swelling, numbness, cold feet and non-healing foot wounds should not be ignored, as they may indicate poor blood circulation or blocked arteries.
Speaking ahead of National Vascular Day, Dr. P. C. Gupta said many people mistake leg pain while walking as a normal part of ageing, delaying diagnosis of peripheral arterial disease. He said early detection and timely treatment can prevent serious complications, including disability and limb loss. He also advised people with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smokers and those above 50 years of age to undergo regular vascular evaluation.
Hospital Chief Operating Officer Abhinav Joshi said the initiative aims to improve public awareness about vascular diseases and encourage preventive screening before complications develop. He said early diagnosis remains one of the most effective ways to preserve mobility and improve treatment outcomes.
The hospital said the screening includes a Doppler test, a painless and non-invasive investigation that assesses blood flow through the arteries and veins to detect narrowing or blockages at an early stage.
The free vascular health check-up will be available only on Thursday, August 6, at the CARE Hospitals Outpatient Centre, Road No. 10, Banjara Hills. Prior appointment is mandatory and registrations will be accepted subject to availability. Appointments can be booked by calling 040-61565656.
