Aster DM Quality Care holds workplace ergonomics awareness session on World Physiotherapy Day
Hyderabad, Sept. 8: Employee wellbeing is fundamental to building a strong organisation and healthy habits should become part of everyday workplace culture, said Dr Amit Singh, Group Chief Human Resources Officer (India II), Aster DM Quality Care Limited.
Speaking in connection with an awareness programme on “Ergonomics at Workplace” organised by Aster DM Quality Care on World Physiotherapy Day, he said changing work patterns and increasing screen time have made it important for organisations and employees to pay greater attention to everyday habits that affect physical health.
“Our people are at the heart of healthcare delivery, and their wellbeing is fundamental to building a strong organisation. Preventive health and wellbeing need to become an integral part of workplace culture,” Dr Singh said.
Employees of CARE Hospitals and Aster Hospitals participated virtually in the programme, which was hosted from the organisation’s Hyderabad office.
Dr Vibha Siddannavar, Senior Physiotherapist, CARE Hospitals, Hitech City, who led the session, said prolonged sitting, poor posture and repetitive movements could gradually lead to neck, shoulder, back and wrist problems.
“Small changes in the way we sit, move and organise our workstations can make a meaningful difference. It is important to recognise discomfort early rather than allowing it to become a persistent problem,” she said.
During the session, employees were shown practical ways to improve workplace ergonomics, including maintaining proper sitting posture, positioning computer screens correctly, taking short movement and stretching breaks, and avoiding remaining in the same position for long periods.
The programme also highlighted the importance of incorporating regular movement and preventive practices into the working day to support musculoskeletal health and overall wellbeing.
World Physiotherapy Day is observed every year on September 8 to raise awareness about the role of physiotherapy in maintaining mobility, physical function and quality of life.
